In less tragic times, the third season of the Israeli series ‘Manayek‘ would have been one of the important topics of the day. Israelis are fond of detective series inspired by the world of the police, and several of the previous detective series, including the first two seasons of this one, have enjoyed great success. In addition, the main plot of ‘Manayek‘ includes an investigation of corruption at the highest levels of Israeli politics, and any Israeli viewer cannot help but make associations with real cases and events, no matter how many disclaimers the filmmakers put at the beginning of each episode . However, the tragic events of October 7 intervened, they also delayed the launch of the season, and when it appeared on the screens, everything seems to have different proportions. I will not write much now, I wrote about the previous seasons in more detail. The investigations continue, the political implications get complicated and they are combined with the conflicts in the world of crime. The revelation of the investigation and prosecution mechanisms and the functioning of the legal and police system are very interesting. We continue to follow some of the main characters we know from the previous seasons: the incorruptible investigator Izzy Bachar (Shalom Assayag), the corrupt police chief Barak Arel (Amos Tamam), the police officer Tal Ben Harush (Liraz Chamami) and the Arab prosecutor Hiba ElNasar (Mouna Hawa). The performances of these actors and of the entire team are excellent. The relationships between their characters are sometimes even more interesting than the police-political plot. This later has a big problem – reality often exceeds the imagination of the creators of television series.
